Despite efforts to design in and maintain safety, accidents happen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Why is chemical safety important?\n<ul>\n<li>Establishing and maintaining a sound chemical safety policy not only saves human lives and protects the environment but also avoids fines and penalties. The physical and biological effects of chemicals must be considered before implementing any chemical safety measures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>What are the risks of using chemicals?\n<ul>\n<li>Some of the possible health effects can include:\n<ul>\n<li><\/li>\n<li>nausea and vomiting.<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<li>skin rashes, such as dermatitis.<\/li>\n<li>chemical burns.<\/li>\n<li>birth defects.<\/li>\n<li>disorders of the lung, kidney or liver.<\/li>\n<li>nervous system disorders<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>What should you know before using a chemical?\n<ul>\n<li>Read the safety data sheet or ask your immediate superior if you are not sure what needs to be done. Food products must not be stored or eaten in premises where chemicals are handled. Work clothes must be kept clean. If you have been in contact with chemicals, take a shower before you go home<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Who Should Attend this Course?<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Chemical\/lab personnel,<\/li>\n<li>Safety personnel or employees who are involved in the handling of hazardous substances in chemical plants or electronics and manufacturing industries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>learning Outcomes<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>New Workplace Health and Safety Act (WSHA) Framework and legal requirements<\/li>\n<li>Overview of chemical hazards and their associated risks<\/li>\n<li>Risk assessment process<\/li>\n<li>Safe work practices for chemical handling, transporting, storage and disposal<\/li>\n<li>Chemical emergency response procedures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Course out line<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5><strong>Day 1<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>Pre course exam<\/li>\n<li>Introduction to chemicals and their various physical forms<\/li>\n<li>Identify the classification of hazardous substances at work<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5><strong>Day 2 <\/strong><\/h5>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Identification of hazardous activities and their elimination<\/li>\n<li>Assess the risks associated with hazardous substances<\/li>\n<li>Control of exposure<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5><strong>Day 3<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>Create chemical storage and handling requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Create system for managing hazards.<\/li>\n<li>Create procedure\/ troubleshoot release\/exposure control systems.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5><strong>Day 4<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ol start=\"10\">\n<li>Create content for training on hazardous chemicals handling.<\/li>\n<li>Use of hazard identification tool like HAZOP (hazard and operability study) to mitigate hazards<\/li>\n<li>Use of spill containment kit<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5><strong>Day 5<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ol start=\"13\">\n<li>Maintenance of plant facility<\/li>\n<li>Compliance with existing rules and regulations<\/li>\n<li>Emergency preparedness<\/li>\n<li>Create system to identify, evaluate the effectiveness of chemicals management.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5>The trainee will receive a training bag that contains:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>The scientific material preserved on flash memory<\/li>\n<li>A paper certificate of attendance issued by the Scandinavian Academy for Training and Development<\/li>\n<li>An electronic certificate of attendance issued by the Scandinavian Academy for Training and Development<\/li>\n<li>The certificate can be attested by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the trainee\u2019s embassy in the Kingdom of Sweden with an additional fee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Introduction about chemical safety What does Chemical Safety mean?
